Did you choose your superhero wrong? is a documentary about the contemporary phenomenon of call-out culture and no platform and the threats that they can represent to the freedom of speech.
Based on the interviews with the British writer and journalist Toby Young and the Brazilian professors Sérgio Rizzo and Eugênio Bucci, among others, the documentary brings different perspectives about ideological patrols and acts of censorship in relation to the debate of some polemical subjects in the fields of arts and intellectual production.
It discusses if the artistic and intellectual works should be banned because of the authors' biographies and their personal opinions – like in the cases of Woody Allen, Michael Jackson, Monteiro Lobato, and more recently J.K. Rowling – and how these actions of canceling have frustrated the rights of some intellectuals in order to express themselves about sensitive themes, especially at the universities.
